Behavioural Intervention

Behavioural Intervention is for children between the ages of 2 to school entry. The children may be at risk emotionally and socially due to challenging behaviours. We work with you and your child in your home and create an individual support plan for your family. Our Interventionist monitors your child's development during this critical period.   Working with you and your child, our Interventionist offers strategies and ideas you can use to support your child's development.

                REFERRAL FORM

The Behavioural Intervention program offers Circle of Security training in a group format to parents and to staff working in early childhood classrooms.  The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

The goals of the program are as follows:

      • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
      • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
      • Enhance the development of your child's self esteem
      • Honor your parenting instincts and desire for your child to be secure

If your family is on our caseload, VCDA offers you these additional programs and services:

• toy library: you can borrow educational toys and other resources
• parent education groups: you can learn parenting skills and connect with other parents
• connection opportunities: you can get help to connect with other families
• referrals: you can be referred to other community professionals, and we'll work with them to help your child
• information: you can find out about local child-care programs, in-home child care, and recreation programs
• help with transitions: you can receive help when your child moves into child care. pre-primary and into school
• individual case management: you'll receive help to develop strategies that are tailored to your family's dynamics, strengths and needs
